Bad Medicine

Most of us regard good luck as our right, and bad luck as a betrayal of that right.

Some people are so fond of bad luck they run half way to meet it.
The only good luck many great men ever had was being born with the ability and determination to overcome bad luck.

Don't go around saying the world owes you a living. The world owes you nothing. It was here first.

Most people who mourn the passing of the nation's leaders wouldn't know a leader if they saw one. If they had the bad luck to come across a leader, they would find out that he might demand something from them, and this impertinence would put an abrupt and indignant end to their wish for his return.”

The secret of success is learning how to use pain and pleasure instead of having pain and pleasure use you. If you do that, you're in control of your life. If you don't, life controls you

We all are afraid of ourselves, of our own reality; our feelings most of all. We talk about how great love is.

“Bull”. Love hurts.

Feelings are disturbing. We are taught that pain is evil and dangerous. How can we deal with love if we are afraid to feel it?

Pain is meant to wake us up.

We all try to hide our pain. But wrong we are. Pain is something to carry, like a handbag. We feel our strength in the experience of pain. It's all in how we carry it. That's what matters. Pain is a feeling. Our feelings are a part of us.

“Our own reality” If we feel ashamed of them, and hide them, we are letting society destroy our reality. We should stand up for our right to feel our pain.”

If my world were to cave in tomorrow, I would look back on all the pleasures, excitements and happiness I have been lucky enough to have had. Not the sadness, not my miscarriages or becoming an orphan at early age, but the joy of everything else. That will be enough for me

Pain is temporary. It may last a minute, or an hour, or a day, or a year, but eventually it will subside and something else will take its place. If I quit, however, it lasts forever.

I don't understand people who hide from their past. I've never tried to block out the memories my past, even though some are painful. Everything you live through helps to make you the person you are now.

People fear death even more than pain. It's strange that they fear death. Life hurts a lot more than death. At the point of death, the pain is over.

All that we are is the result of what we have thought. If a man speaks or acts with an evil thought, pain follows him. If a man speaks or acts with a pure thought, happiness follows him, like a shadow that never leaves him.

Sermon Of Doom

Sermons remain one of the last forms of public discourse where it is culturally forbidden to talk back. If the truth were known, many sermons are prepared and preached with more regard for the sermon than the souls of the hearers, few sinners are saved after the first twenty minutes of a sermon.

The object of preaching is to constantly remind mankind of what they keep forgetting; not to supply the intellect, but to fortify the feebleness of human resolutions. The good rain, like a bad preacher, does not know when to leave off.

It is hardly to be believed how spiritual reflections when mixed with a little physics can hold people's attention and give them a livelier idea of God than do the often ill-applied examples of his wrath.

That we should practice what we preach is generally admitted; but anyone who preaches what he and his hearers practice must incur the gravest moral disapprobation.
I'd rather see a sermon than hear one any day; I'd rather one should walk with me than merely tell the way: The eye's a better pupil and more willing than the ear, fine counsel is confusing, but example's always clear. In the Old Testament all we get is DON'T

And God spoke all these words, saying: 'I am the LORD your God…
1: 'You shall have no other gods before Me.'
2: 'You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.'
3: 'You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain.'
4: 'Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.'
5: 'Honour your father and your mother.'
6: 'You shall not murder.'
7: 'You shall not commit adultery.'

8: 'You shall not steal.'
9: 'You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour.'
10: 'You shall not covet your neighbour’s house; you shall not covet your neighbour’s wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbour’s

The New Testament gave us the Beatitudes:

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall inherit the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called children of God.

Blessed are they who are persecuted for the sake of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Go into the street, and give one man a lecture on morality, and another a Pound coin, and see which will respect you most.

This type of Doomsday preaching does not bring people closer to God, maybe we should let people know the consequences of doing wrong and same breath what they can gain doing right. More so letting people remember that God is a God of love and loves all creation.

Even with your children constant treat does not help! The day your child tells retribution for going your do`s and don’ts, is the day your treat becomes an embarrassment to you!!, The child is saying all you are good at doing is inflicting punishment when you can’t get your way, instead of sitting the child down and explain why this thing is not good for wellbeing, the advantage and disadvantage of the action

In the old covenants the people were sprinkled with blood of calves without, in their bodies, to bind them to keep the law; else we were bound to just damnation, for the breaking of it. But these days that alone will be perceived as an ungodly act!

God preordained, for his own glory and the display of His attributes of mercy and justice, a part of the human race, without any merit of their own, to eternal salvation, and another part, in just punishment of their sin, to eternal damnation

we can let people or advice people to live a Godly way even the present day churches realise the new generation like parties, music, disco etc. as such they have integrate this flavour of this type of music and lot of Spiritual music that has the flavour of what the new generation likes and can dance to!! And it’s working like a magic. Its norm to be seen playing gospel music and most of this music are in hip-hop, Rap more-so RNB an d they are so Godly and beautiful to the ears.

Since the day i was born, i am yet to meet one EVIL human being because God does not create evil for he created us all. But all i have seen are Good people with bad tendencies. Gun does not kill us human that kill with a Gun.

Even the bible said it’s not for a man soul to perish but to repent!!!

We should pray more for people to change and stop this constant damnation by judges of doom

To my wife

Sitting by the Lagoon front watching calmness of the tides, with a sweet sound of wind pipe

Shinning sparkle of the ocean water and simmering tranquillity of the Ijede beach front!

I remembered.

Fishes, Crabs, snappers, oysters

Oyster, oh! The fisherman arrived with daily spoil, happy faces!

Beautiful fishes and all oceanic mammals but,

OOH! The Golden fish the best of them all is missing, somebody murmured Atlantis i panicked!!

But the thought of her somewhere, a shout away fill me with excitement.

If only the Golden fish can jump out of the river and brighten the muddy water full of cat fish, I will be at peace,

A boy looks good with his shirt off .

Forgiveness

For my part I believe in the forgiveness of sin and the redemption of ignorance.

It is easier to forgive an enemy than to forgive a friend.
It is often easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission.
When we forgive evil we do not excuse it, we do not tolerate it, and we do not smother it. We look the evil full in the face, call it what it is, let its horror shock and stun and enrage us, and only then do we forgive it.
Humanity is never so beautiful as when praying for forgiveness, or else forgiving another

Some will say I can forgive, but I cannot forget, is only another way of saying, I will not forgive. Forgiveness ought to be like a cancelled note - torn in two, and burned up, so that it never can be shown against one.
Some will say, I do not bring forgiveness with me, nor forgetfulness. The only ones who can forgive are dead; the living has no right to forget

Holding on to anger, resentment and hurt only gives you tense muscles, a headache and a sore jaw from clenching your teeth. Forgiveness gives you back the laughter and the lightness in your life.

Never forget the three powerful resources you always have available to you: love, prayer, and forgiveness.

Murder is a unique in that it abolishes the party it injures, so that society has to take the place of the victim and on his behalf demand atonement or grant forgiveness; it is the one crime in which society has a direct interest.

I have to ask Allah's forgiveness and not get angry, because they come to me out of love, and it's not fitting that I should turn to them in hatred.

If Jesus Christ was who He claimed to be, and He did die on a cross at a point of time in history, then, for all history past and all history future it is relevant because that is the very focal point for forgiveness and redemption

Well, I've never left my faith - but have I made a lot of mistakes? But was I fortunate that I was brought up in that Catholic Church, where I heard about God's love and God's forgiveness.

In the evening of life we shall be judged on love, and not one of us is going to come off very well, and were it not for my absolute faith in the loving forgiveness of my Lord I could not call on him to come

Forgiveness is the remission of sins. For it is by this that what has been lost, and was found, is saved from being lost again

When I was a kid I used to pray every night for a new bicycle. Then I realised that the Lord doesn't work that way so I stole one and asked Him to forgive me.
When you forgive, you in no way change the past - but you sure do change the future.

You will know that forgiveness has begun when you recall those who hurt you and feel the power to wish them well.

He that cannot forgive others breaks the bridge over which he must pass himself; for every man has need to be forgiven. Only then that Inner peace can be reached only when we practice forgiveness. Forgiveness is letting go of the past, and is therefore the means for correcting our misperceptions

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory. for ever and ever. Amen
